Porcelain veneers can transform the smile of Dayton area patients
If you are tired of looking at tooth imperfections and are ready to enjoy a brilliant and pristine smile, you may be interested in learning more about porcelain veneers. For decades, our team at Alex Bell Dental has been using porcelain veneers to transform the smiles of our patients.
What are veneers?
Veneers are cosmetic shells of porcelain that are adhered to the front of teeth with a special bonding agent. They make aesthetic improvements to the smile by covering visible imperfections. Veneers can cover gaps, disguise cracks or chips, and even make the teeth appear to be proportionate lengths. For patients who are stuck with permanently stained teeth, porcelain veneers can give you the brilliant white smile that you have always desired. Porcelain is a durable material that is stain-resistant, which means your teeth will stay dazzling long term.
The veneer procedure
The process of placing veneers on the teeth is straightforward and only involves a few office visits. During the first visit, the examination is performed to determine if veneers are a good option for you. We will discuss your options and help you decide if veneers would give you the results that you desire.
Once you decide to move forward with the procedure, a second appointment can be scheduled. During this second appointment, impressions and images are taken of the teeth for fabrication of the veneers. In addition, an ultra-small portion of the enamel will need to be removed from the teeth to allow the veneers to fit properly. There may be minimal sensitivity after this process.
Placement of the veneers is done on the third appointment. Dr. Cobb will verify the color and fit is right and then bond them on to the front of the teeth. A special curing light is used to harden the bonding agent.
Patients who have veneers report that they never truly realized how much their old smile bothered them until they were given the opportunity to enjoy their new one. If you are in the Dayton area and you would like to join the ranks of these satisfied patients, call us to learn more about the benefits of porcelain veneers.
